Samplitud Opus logo Samplitude Opus - What's new? An all new GUI based on Workbench 3+. An improved ARexx port. New, shiny function windows, new importer and exporter - and that's not all! There will be PPC support one day (which currently depends on whether actual manufacturors of PPC cards for the Amiga are interested in this product or not). There will be constant updates (meaning bugfixes, function improvements and functionality enhancements) which will be either free of charge to registered users (of new versions) or settled at reasonable prices. Also continued upgrades (including new functions, external modules and other major feature changes).will show up from time to time widening the usability of Samplitude. Opus - because we are heading towards the power application that gives Amiga users everything at hand he might ever need for harddisc recording, sample editing, effect manipulation and software DSP. So it's an opus in it's literal meaning! The new parameter window gives you easy access to all the supported soundcard's frequencies, all known parameters and full level control with a resolution of 1.5dB as well as panning control. Of course the parameter window adapts itself to the number of tracks you are using. Depending on your CPU you can actually use any number of tracks simulatenously. What your soundcard will output depends CPU and driver quality. You are not limmited to 1, 2, 4 or 8 tracks anymore! The new record window now pops up for all supported soundcards - giving you usable level meters right from the start, gain adjustment and access to all possible inputs the soundcard offers. One of the bunch of new importer modules is the CDDA import window allowing you to import MSB- or LSB-first CDDA data (e.g. CD audio data streams exported from a CDDA reader) - of course you can also export MSB CDDA and LSB CDDA from Samplitude now! Here's another exporter module screenshot: ISO-MPEG-1 audio layer I and II. Of course vou've got total control over every single parameter of this lossy but very high data compression scheme. From very low to reasonable high bitrates, from mono to joint stereo or dual channel - it's all there. We will be updating all function GUIs to a modern look with graphical help step by step - one of the first we did is the fading window that now also allows logarithmical or exponential fading functions as well as quick preset buttons for the most commonly used fades. Similar improvements have been made to other function paramter windows like normalize, echo, etc. There's a new graphical FFT filter that can be used as denoiser, hum-remover, equalizer or F/X generator. The signal is being displayed and can be manipulated in frequency domain. You can design high-resolution filters to amplify, attenuate or even completely remove any frequency component you like just by drawing the frequency response graph with your mouse! Alternatively the filter can be used to digitally subtract a noise print from the signal giving you even more accuracy in hum removal or noise reduction. And if you fancy something special, just cut off spectral components that are below a definable gate level. What else? Well, we are working on all internal functions as well - so the complete message system has undergone a major rework, removing some bugs or forgotten system calls that may have vanished over the years. The ARexx port is one of the projects we have assigned a high priority - there will be calls to nearly all functions of Samplitude, as well as the proposed "FX" standard port for linkage to external software DSPs, importer and exporters or other PlugIn modules. Record while Play Yes, Samplitude now does Full Duplex. Depending on the availability of full duplex capable drivers for your soundcard and the support we get from the soundcard manufacturors we will try to give you the opportunity to record new tracks while you play back other ones! This needs some decent CPU power of course - but Samplitude's heading towards 40+ anyway...
